Children in Need use Charity Shortcode

E-mail Print

The BBC's Children in Need campaign is using the new Charity Shortcode range.

A donation of £5 can be made by texting the word 'donate' to shortcode 70077.

The BBC has implemented a text message donation service for its BBC Children In Need event, this Friday 20th November.

Donations of five pounds can be made to BBC Children In Need by sending a text message which begins with the word "DONATE" to 70077.  Using this method, people can send donate up to seven times in one day from their mobile phone.

Martin Ballard, Operations Director of the Mobile Data Association, said "We welcome such deployments of messaging which help to speed up the donation process and make mobile donations more accessible to mobile phone users."

"£7.8 million was raised for the BBC Red Nose Day charity earlier in 2009, through £1 and £5 SMS text donations.  This shows that there is an enormous appetite for this type of facility."

The full terms and conditions for the Children in Need donations are set out below and on the BBC website.
